About, Bio, Me, Matt Davis…this is the part my wife told me I should write, something from the heart, genuine, real, first person for that matter – as the truth is, I am Matt Davis Photography
Simply, I enjoy taking photos, find people fascinating and love being in the fresh air! The in-depth answer is, with a degree in Design and Business and a passion for photography it couldn’t be a more appropriate job.
To make it a bit easier here are some short Q & As.
Who is Matt Davis? To my clients I’m a professional wedding photographer, to my wife Ali I’m a husband and to Daisy and Barnaby I’m Dad.
What are you best known for?My unobtrusive manner on a wedding day whilst capturing a range of creative and natural photographs. I am friendly, enthusiastic and have a calming approach, helping to put you at ease.
I’m also known to be a dab hand at making flapjacks, very good at eating wedding cake and never able to sit down for longer than 10 minutes.
How would you describe your style? It’s always tricky to pigeon hole a style but my photography takes inspiration from gritty photojournalism, sleek editorial and natural light portraiture. You get what my eyes see…without that skill a documentary wedding photographer is worthless.
Where do you work?Based in Cheltenham, I cover wedding and portrait photography mainly in the Cotswolds, Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Wiltshire and Oxfordshire areas. Although HQ is the office at the end of my garden!
What would be your ideal day?A day off spent at the beach with my family, watching the kids in the sand. I would be surfing the four foot clean beach breaks, we occasionally get in North Devon.
What are you looking for when taking a photograph? In my opinion it’s all about capturing unique moments. I’m looking for photos to tell a story, have honesty and soul. Great light helps too!
Top tips? There are many, I’m just that kind of guy…Ali will tell you!! Here are two, but pop in and see me and I’ll share many more, perhaps even make you a cuppa and a flapjack.
- Relax, forget all the detail, the most important thing is to enjoy your day. It will go by FAST. I’ll be there to capture the moments and the more relaxed you are the easier my job is.
- Don’t tell everyone everything…
If you wish to know more please have a look at my blog which has recent weddings, personal posts, plus some general ramblings. Better still, grab the phone and give me a call. I’m happy to chat about your wedding day, offer advice on venues or go through colour schemes, bridesmaid dresses and flowers (OK, so the last bit’s a stretch too far!)
